Hiroshi Sugiura, CEO, Yutaka Industry Co., Ltd.
The history of Yutaka Industry goes back to 1955. It started out as a small shop called “Sugiura Iron Works,” founded by my father, Yutaka Sugiura, in Takayama city, Aichi Prefecture. The shop started out as doing fundamental piecework machining of metal prototypes, with honing, up cutting and machining expertise for more than a half century.
Currently, our primary customer is Denso. With the support of the representative auto parts maker of Japan, we provide all sorts of automobile parts ranging from standard parts to high-precision parts for hybrid vehicles. Among these, we specialize in parts for fuel injection systems such as injectors and injector pumps, small motors such as power window motors and sensors such as pressure sensors. With these three fields as our primary business, the company has grown into a robust machining and manufacturer of automobile parts. As our clientele expands all over the world, we have advanced our operations overseas. We built production facilities in the United States in 1995 and Indonesia in 2011 to keep up with global expansion.
Our technologies are highly acclaimed as the "Uniqueness of Yutaka" that is able to provide what the customer wants no matter what is called for. The company stands out as unique for all sorts of work. This does not apply to machining of parts precise to within microns; we have developed high-performance equipment ourselves. We will continue to nurture our unique technologies in the future and “create quality products at low cost” to contribute to the success of our customers’ business.
We have placed top priority of taking care of the customers’ needs since our the founding of our business. We have carried on business by providing solutions for our customers, repeatedly. We employ simple honesty in our expertise to offer both high precision and shorter delivery duration and cultivate our professionalism. This has been the strength of our company; our customers rely on us to provide solutions for their problems. Experience, expertise and self-respect has always been employed for prototype production since the days when we did piecework.
We have accumulated and enhanced our ability to offer solutions for our customers for many years. Building an enduring and strong relationships with customers enables us to better handle fundamental management problems and cultivate new markets.
Instead of being satisfied with the three current main businesses, we want each of our employees to always have an awareness of issues and bring about technical innovations by seeking new value from various points of view. We therefore rank “human development” as the most important matter for enhancing creativity and inventing new technologies. “Human development” is just one facet of building a smart factory equipped with wisdom and user-friendliness where each employee can realize his/her own potential.
"Care and confidence are built into each and every product."
This is the company motto; the words of my father, the founder of the company. Care and confidence are in the hearts of our employees and are the basis of technologies. We focus our attention on efficient machining in an environment that offers challenge as well as the joy of advanced technology on a daily basis. This requires reducing physical stress so each person can achieve his/her potential; it also requires accumulating data and making use of AI. We believe a combination of these two realize a manufacturing environment that is friendly to workers.
My job as CEO is to decide what is the best form and image for us and realize a working environment that is smart and friendly to workers. While we are currently growing, I appreciate each member of our employees performing his or her job with responsibility. We ask the workers at the facilities, which are forefront of our operations, to think and act on their own to form a new shape for the company.
We continue to advance relentlessly and accept the challenges with bold sincerity. We thank you for your patronage.
